Fujinon MK 18-55mm T2.9 E-mount cine lens. First footage and thoughts here!

Ethics Statement: I was paid by Fujinon to evaluate and shoot footage with their new MK lens. This is not a review but the sharing of my footage and why I genuinely think this is an excellent lens. Fujinon MK 18-55 on the Sony FS5 with Atomos Inferno recorder Cinema lenses are wonderful things to […] The post Fujinon MK 18-55mm T2.9 E-mount cine lens. The Rambling Video Autofocus Mega Test – FINAL PART NOW LIVE (The real world tests)

EDIT: The final part is now here. It took a while! I hope you enjoy it. Autofocus is starting to actually really work for shooting video, and this is a huge step forward for filmmakers like me,  especially when shooting with larger sensors. But just how good are they? Can you trust them? In which […] The post The Rambling Video Autofocus Mega Test – FINAL PART NOW LIVE (The real world tests) appeared first on Philip Bloom- Blog .

The Frost In The Woods: DJI Phantom 4 Pro from Philip Bloom on…

The Frost In The Woods: DJI Phantom 4 Pro from Philip Bloom on Vimeo.

My first proper test flight of my new Phantom 4 pro on a very cold (for the South of England) afternoon. I will be doing a blog post and possibly a vlog where I go into detail about the drone but I can categorically state that the image from this is a HUGE improvement over the standard 4 (and of course the wonderful Mavic Pro) The 1" Sony RX100 IV sensor and 100mbps H265 as well as the 4K 50p/ 60P H264 images are gorgeous. More Continue reading "The Frost In The Woods: DJI Phantom 4 Pro from Philip Bloom on…"

Practising in the park with the DJI Mavic Pro from Philip Bloom…

Practising in the park with the DJI Mavic Pro from Philip Bloom on Vimeo.

You can never practise enough, it’s the only way to get better and get confidence! This is an edit of an hour out on Sunday morning practising some slow intricate shots and some more traditional drone shots. I don’t love the image from the DJI Mavic Pro but I do love everything else about this diminutive drone. You can see my video review of it at gopb.co/mavic My main issue with the image is the compression is too high and the way it renders edges is not as good as the Phantom 4. Still, you can get good results with the right picture profile and some gentle massaging in post! This was shot with cinelike, sharpness -1, contrast -3 and saturation -1. I used to shoot Art picture profile but it was removed in the Continue reading "Practising in the park with the DJI Mavic Pro from Philip Bloom…"
