From Groundbreaking Camera Movement to Revolutionary Human Mobility Invention: ZEEN

This year’s annual eg conference for “innovators in the world’s most creative industries” put the spotlight on a miraculous invention from a team of inventors called Exokinetics. Garrett Brown, the man behind the game-changing Steadicam and Skycam, and teammate Chris Fawcett, have developed a device called the Zeen to aid in the mobility of those battling age, injury, and disease. After decades of furthering the ability of camera movement and dynamic shots with the invention & evolution of the Steadicam and Skycam, Garrett and Chris have turned their skills towards helping the unfortunate and impaired by increasing human mobility and Continue reading "From Groundbreaking Camera Movement to Revolutionary Human Mobility Invention: ZEEN"

Hawaiian Comedy Webseries Making Laughs and Social Media Waves out in Honolulu

Think of the low-stakes, low production value of the hit comedy series The Office and throw in some genuine Hawaiian charm plus a few more expletives and you’ve got Waikiki PD. Produced by Orig Entertainment, this year’s new webseries takes a handful of hilarious Hawaiian character actors and plots them in ridiculous police situations making ludicrous comedy out of island police enforcement. This one here is my favorite episode, Jaywalking, with Officer Dan making another total mockery of Hawaiian police. Also watch their version of the Harlem Shake (only a few years behind the trend). Their series has been Continue reading "Hawaiian Comedy Webseries Making Laughs and Social Media Waves out in Honolulu"

How Do You Earn Trust? A Photojournalist Tells His Story

A few weeks ago, in a recent planetMitch newsletter I talked about trust and how difficult it is to gain and maintain. Bill Sparks was one of the many who wrote back and commented about my concerns. His reply was so poignant and hits right to the core of what we often have to do as photographers/ filmmakers and story tellers. I asked if I could republish his words and gratefully he said yes. There's also a link to the published article. Thanks Bill! ===

Save 40% on Gear Rental Insurance with KitSplit Instant Insurance

I've told you about Kitsplit before because it is great idea. The problem of course is getting the word out and getting more people to know about it. Mainly, they're very active in New York and Los Angeles. But since I live in St. Louis, I'm still trying to get people to use it. In fact, I had my first rental of my Canon EOS 5D Mark IV just a few weeks ago. And it was seamless and easy. Cash in my pocket. Of course, one of the concerns is insurance and KitSplit just announced a 40% discount! Introducing KitSplit Instant Insurance

(Curated by Matthew Carew) I think many people can relate to this article, as it talks about a subject that is often brought up and questioned: How much Photoshop is too much? With the ability to paste a dinosaur into a simple shot of a city in seconds, can these powers be abused and over-used? This article talks about this, and explains what a photographer did when her Photoshop use was in question.

Nikon Soon to Announce Launch into the Full Frame Mirrorless Market

Making sure Sony [Note: Sony Alpha a7 III with Special Price Available at Adorama] doesn’t get all the excitement and publicity around the full frame mirrorless camera movement, Nikon’s European team released a teaser video for their coming addition to the market. The theme of the video can surely be interpreted as “color without light,” subtly hinting at an emphasis on low-light capabilities. You can watch the video here:
