Who was your commencement speaker this year?
Students at NYU had classes canceled and were down in the dumps until 3 epic filmmakers made appearances in their Zoom graduation. Filmmaking legends Rian Johnson, Christopher Nolan, and Edgar Wright all popped in to give the seniors some life advice and confidence as they headed out into the unknown.
Nolan said, “Congratulations on your magnificent achievement, I know how hard all of you worked and I would just like to say the world you’re going out into is one which the value of stories, storytellers, and those who care passionately about the history of storytelling and its future…we need your voices, we need new voices, and we need your passion. I, for one, am very excited to see where you will go and what you will do. Congratulations and I wish you all the best.”
Those words definitely rang true for this class, who not only faces a world but also a Hollywood landscape unlike one we have ever seen before.
But those uncertain prospects were far off as the filmmakers entertained the students, regaling them with stories.
