In Ukraine’s southern Zaporizhzhia region, about 25 km from front-line battles in Russia’s ongoing invasion of the country, a group of Ukrainian volunteer veterinarians from Kyiv recently traveled to the village of Tavriyske to do check-ups and treat injured or sick animals. Residents who remain in the region despite the dangers of near-constant bombardment brought their own pets to the temporary clinic, as well as some of many stray animals, to be examined, treated, spayed or neutered, and vaccinated.
