Think Tank Photo announces the new SpeedTop camera bags

Think Tank Photo announces the new SpeedTop camera bags Looking for a new camera bag for 2023? Look no further, Think Tank Photo just announced the new SpeedTop 10 and SpeedTop 15, sized to fit today’s camera systems.

If you’ve used Think Tank Photo bags for long enough, the new SpeedTop Crossbody Series has a déjà vu feeling that  does not go unnotticed. In fact, more than a decade ago, Think Tank Photo had a series, its Speed System shoulder bags, which doubled as belt packs. Besides the unique MindShift Gear Rotation180 – the outdoor brand from Think Tank Photo – I still have a Speed Racer that was my everyday camera bag for a long time, and I know a few people coming to my workshops acquired similar models.

Part of the Speed Convertible Series, the Speed Demon, Speed Freak and Speed Racer bags featured a “disappearing” belt that tucks away into the sides of the bag, significantly reducing bulkiness. Within seconds, the shoulder bags seamlessly convert into belt packs once the integrated belts are deployed. The concept is the same with the bags now introduced, although there are difference, besides the design and choice of materials.

The SpeedTop series camera bags feature an inventive magnetic lid to enable quick and quiet access to your gear. Opening the lid requires only one hand and closes securely without zippers. Think tank Photo says that “regardless of your shooting style, the SpeedTop crossbody bags are easy to carry, provide quick access, and are sized to fit today’s camera systems. Also included is a tuck-away security latch for peace-of-mind when moving through crowded public places.”

Available in two sizes, the SpeedTop 10 and SpeedTop 15, both are sized to fit today’s ungripped camera bodies with up to a 24-70mm lens, flash, extra lens, and small accessories. A padded, quick-adjusting strap and belt pass-through stabilizes the bag against your body for active situations and added security. And the SpeedTop’s slim profile is ideal for navigating through crowds and tight spaces.

“As photographers we know that having fast, easy, and often times, quiet access to your camera and gear is critical,” said Doug Murdoch, Think Tank CEO and Lead Product Designer. “It can mean the difference between getting a shot or missing it.”

Sony Cinema Pan-Tilt-Zoom Camera FR7 is now Netflix approved

Sony Cinema Pan-Tilt-Zoom Camera FR7 is now Netflix approvedTwo months after being announced, the Sony FR7 is on the Netflix approved camera list, for a total of 12 Sony cameras already approved as a primary camera for Netflix productions.

Unlike other PTZ cameras, the FR7 is a cinema camera equipped with a full-frame image sensor, 15 stops of dynamic range, the ability to change lenses, and built-in pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) functionality. Offering uncompromised image quality in a PTZ form factor, the FR7 features a back-illuminated 35mm full-frame CMOS image sensor Exmor R with approximately 10.3 effective megapixels and wide 15+ stop latitude in a pan tilt zoom (PTZ) camera for the first time. In addition to wide dynamic range, low noise, and cinematic full frame bokeh, this amazing sensor also delivers high sensitivity that allows ISO to be expanded up to 409,600 when shooting in low light.

“The cinematic look and feel is rapidly becoming the norm in broadcasting and live production as it opens up new ways to tell a narrative,” said Yang Cheng, Vice President, Imaging Solutions, Sony Electronics Inc. “In parallel, over the last 2 years, we’ve seen a steep rise in content created remotely or in small locations where access is difficult. At Sony, we are always listening to our customers. We are thrilled to announce the FR7 that combines the flexibility of a standard PTZ camera with stunning visuals through advanced cinematic features.”

Sony’s PTZ FR7 offers something that puts it above other PTZ cameras: easy operation for storytelling from new angles. With a new dedicated web application, pan, tilt, zoom, focus, record, playback, and all camera settings can be intuitively controlled from a tablet or computer web browser. Multiple people can monitor FR7 footage remotely at the same time. Multi camera monitoring is also enabled, allowing multiple cameras to be viewed remotely on one device.

Sony says that with its integrated remotely controllable pan/tilt mechanism, the FR7 can be mounted on a tripod, on a ceiling with the dedicated CIB-PCM1, or in other locations with limited access so that subjects can be unobtrusively followed and recorded from unique viewpoints. It is also compatible with Sony’s RM-IP500 remote controller for multi-camera production, expanding creative potential while reducing the need for dedicated staff in production studios and other shooting situations. A single RM-IP500 unit can remotely control up to 100 PTZ cameras and provide precious joystick-controlled pan, tilt, and zoom operation.

The FR7 features Sony’s E-mount and can mount a wide range of E-mount lenses, including the G Master series with stunning resolution and bokeh effect. A choice of focal lengths ranging from 12 mm to 1200 mm gives users comprehensive creative control.

Recent Webb Telescope photo brings an entirely new look at the Pillars of Creation

Pillars of Creation is certainly one of the most iconic space photos we know. Originally shot by Hubble in 1995, it was reshot 20 years later, and seven more years later with NASA’s brand new tool, James Webb Space Telescope, or JWST for short. In its most recent photo, JWST brings us an entirely new […]

Artist sues Cardi B and her photographer for copying his Marge Simpson illustration

Rapper Cardi B recently got herself in legal trouble that broke the internet. On Halloween, she published photos of herself dressed like Marge Simpson in an iconic Thierry Mugler dress.  But as it turned out, the photo was inspired by work from another artist. And no, it’s not (just) Matt Groening. The artist is now […]
